General plumbing

The everyday plumbing jobs

Most plumbing calls are not dramatic. A tap that has been dripping for a month. A toilet that keeps running. A damp patch on a wall that is slowly getting bigger. They are small until they are not.

Woolfords Plumbing handles the everyday repairs and installations that come with owning or running a property on the Sunshine Coast — and the sort of jobs where it is easier to get one plumber who can deal with the whole lot.

Leaking and dripping taps

A dripping tap is usually a worn washer, seal or cartridge, and it is one of the cheapest things to put right. Left alone it wastes water, stains the basin and eventually wears the tap seat, which turns a small repair into a replacement.

Woolfords Plumbing repairs and replaces taps and mixers throughout the house — kitchen, bathroom, laundry and outside garden taps.

Leaking and burst pipes

Water where it should not be is worth acting on quickly. A burst pipe is obvious; a slow leak inside a wall, under a slab or in the roof space is not, and often shows up first as a damp patch, a musty smell, a stained ceiling or a water bill that has jumped for no reason.

If you have a burst pipe, turn the water off at the meter and call. Woolfords Plumbing traces the leak, repairs or replaces the affected section of pipework and makes sure the rest of the run is sound.

Toilet repairs and installation

Toilets are one of the most common call-outs and one of the biggest quiet water wasters. Typical faults include a cistern that runs continuously, a weak or incomplete flush, a leak at the base of the pan, a broken flush button or a blocked pan.

Woolfords Plumbing repairs cisterns and inlet valves, replaces seals and pans, and installs new toilet suites — including as part of a bathroom renovation.

Plumbing repairs around the house

New plumbing installations

Putting something new in is straightforward when the plumbing is planned properly. Woolfords Plumbing installs tapware, sinks, basins, toilets, laundry tubs, dishwashers and washing machine connections, and runs new water and waste pipework where a fixture is going somewhere it has not been before.

Why the small stuff is worth fixing

A dripping tap can waste thousands of litres a year. A running toilet can waste more than that. A slow leak behind a wall does damage that costs far more to repair than the plumbing did. Getting the small faults dealt with is usually the cheapest plumbing decision you will make.

Common Questions

Do you do small plumbing jobs?

Yes. A leaking tap or a running toilet is a normal call-out. It is often worth grouping a few small jobs into one visit — mention everything on your list when you call.

My pipe has burst. What should I do first?

Turn the water off at the meter or the main isolation valve, then call 0412 107 022. Turning the water off limits the damage while the repair is organised.

Can you replace taps and mixers as well as repair them?

Yes. Whether a tap is repaired or replaced usually comes down to its age and condition, and you will get a straight answer on which makes more sense.
